President of Monash University visited SEU

From March 12th to 13th, a three-member delegation from Monash University (Monash) led by President Edward Byrne visited Southeast University (SEU).
 
On the morning of March 12th, SEU Vice Presidents Pu Yuepu and Shen Jiong led a delegation to Suzhou to discuss the preparatory details of “SEU-Monash Joint Graduate School (Suzhou)” with President Byrne of Monash University and Director Yang Zhiping of Management Committee of Suzhou Industrial Park(SIP).
 
During the meeting the three parties exchanged opinions, went through the preparatory work for “SEU-Monash Joint Graduate School (Suzhou)”, and clinched the matters requiring the joint efforts of three parties to complete in the near future.
 
Saying that the preparatory work for the Joint Graduate School was drawing to a close, Director Yang Zhiping further stressed that SIP would fulfill its commitment and provide corresponding support to the program in the future when it is in operation.
 
President Byrne, vice-presidents Pu Yuepu and Shen Jiong also stated that they would make concerted efforts to ensure the smooth operation of the program.
 
On the morning of March 13th, SEU Executive Vice President Hu Minqiang Vice Presidents Pu Yuepu and Shen Jiong held separate talks with President Byrne. They exchanged ideas and discussed issues concerning preparatory details, personnel, student education plans, admission requirements, etc.. Many problems were solved at the meetings, and for those unsolved, the two parties agreed that they would urge relevant departments to have further negotiation and work out the solutions.
 
Finally, President Byrne and SEU leaders both expressed that the two universities would jointly contribute to the construction of the Joint Graduate School, boosting the two universities’ international academic influence, and pushing their partnership onto a new level.
