August 19 witnessed the first Chinese Doctor’s Day. In the morning, the Celebration Meeting of Chinese Doctor’s Day and the 11thAward Presentation Ceremony of Chinese Physician Prize was grandly convened at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. In the meeting, 80 winners of “Chinese Physician Prize” including Professor Teng Gaojun, Director of Zhongda Hospital Affiliated to Southeast University, etc. were commended.
Professor Teng Gaojun, current Director and Chief Physician of Zhongda Hospital Affiliated to Southeast University, Chief Professor and tutor of Ph.D students of Southeast University, is also serving as Director of Interventional Diagnosis and Treatment Centre of Jiangsu Province, academic leader of national key clinical college, Chairman of Chinese College of Interventionalists and former Chairman of Asia-Pacific Society of Cardiovascular & Interventional Radiology as well as many other important academic posts. Professor Teng Gaojun has been engaged in clinical practice, teaching and academic researches on interventional therapy for over 30 years and accomplished over 20,000 clinical surgeries. He is adept at interventional therapy of such diseases as liver cancer, esophagus cancer, malignant biliary obstruction, vertebral fracture, lumbar disc herniation,aortic dissection, diabetic foot, cerebrovascular disease and portal hypertension, etc.. Among them, several technologies including series alimentary tract particle stents took the initiative both at home and abroad. In addition, he once took charge of over 10 national key subjects in succession including 973 Project of Ministry of Science and Technology (Chief Scientist), 863 Project and key projects of Natural Science Foundation of China, etc.. With his efforts, his subjects have been awarded three second prizes of the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award and over 100 papers have been enrolled by SCI, including such internationally renowned periodical asLancet Oncology, etc. Besides, he was personally titled as Youth Expert with Outstanding Contributions by the Ministry of Health and deemed as the 1st level cultivation object of 333 Project of Jiangsu Province. In 2015, he was appraised as the excellent person of European Congress of Radiology; in 2017, he won the highest prize of Society of Interventional Radiology——GoldAward. He is the first Chinese physician who has won such two great international awards in interventional radiology.
It is also reported that Professor Teng Gaojunhas been recently titled as “Bethune-style Good Doctor” in the 2nd “Bethune-style Good Doctor” large-scale public event, as jointly developed by Bethune Spirit Research Association and Chinese Medical Doctor Association. A total of 81 winners of Bethune-style Good Doctor and 112 winners of Bethune-style Good Doctor award nomination were recommended in the nationwide area according to the principles of rigorous standards and open procedures. Professor Teng Gaojun from Zhongda Hospital Affiliated to Southeast University won the honorary title of “Bethune-style Good Doctor”.
