On August 9, 2018 CCF TCARCH Challenge (Computer Architecture Challenge) came to the curtain in Yingkou City, Liaoning Province. “Southeast University Jiulonghu Team” composed by student Xu Yan, the team leader and students Jiang Zhongming, Fan Fei, Shi Na and Jiang Shanqing, as the team members from the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Southeast University stood out and won the championship by competing with nearly 40 teams from nationally renowned universities such as Peking University, Shanghai Jiaotong University and Dalian University of Technology, etc. This is the second time after the team has won the champion (the GrandPrize) in the preceding architecture challenge.

CCF TCARCH Challenge (Computer Architecture Challenge)is a national event organized by the Special Committee on Computer Architecture of China Computer Federation to explore talents adept at computer architecture, stimulate the students' interest in computer architecture and foster the students' innovation. The challenge in this year themed as Design and Implementation of the Forecasting System of Advertising Click Rate Based on Baidu Cloud Heterogeneous Multi-core Platform (CPU+FPGA), involves knowledge concerning heterogeneous multi-core applications, big data analysis and processing, and FPGA accelerated artificial intelligence algorithm, etc.., which highlight great comprehensiveness and practicability.

According to the characteristics of the competition theme in this year, the School of Computer Science and Engineering of Southeast University organized “Southeast University Jiulonghu Team” composed by five postgraduates, namely, Xu Yan, Jiang Zhongming, Fan Fei, Shi Na and Jiang Shanqing, specializing in three study directions including computer architecture, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. Under the guidance of Associate Professor Yang Quansheng and Senior Engineer Wu Qiang, the team attended this challenge and passed the preliminary, the rematch and the final. The team members took advantage of their summer vacation, carefully considered every detail of the theme, optimized the system from multiple aspects including algorithm design, software programming, hardware acceleration and data transmission, etc. to give full play to the team’s advantages. It is reported that the work proposed by our team was praised by many experts and scholars of the Special Committee on Computer Architecture of CCF. At CCF ACA2018 academic conference as convened during the same period, the team members exhibited their entry, which has aroused great concerns of U. S. Xilinx Company, the challenge’s sponsor. Mr. Patrick Lysaght, Senior Supervisor of Xilinx Research Institute and Mr. Hugo, Director of Xilinx Global University Program, made a special trip to the booth to communicate with our players. Mr. Hugo, Director of the Special Committee of CCF Computer Architecture and Professor Dou Yong from National Defense Science and Technology University presented the award to the “Southeast University Jiulonghu Team”.
