President Zhang said that Chinese universities have played an important role in cultivating high-quality innovative talents, targeting science and technology frontiers, serving the country's major demands and promoting industrial restructuring. As British universities highlight traditional advantages of higher education, they are deemed as important partners in the internationalized school-running of Chinese universities. Southeast University has sound cooperation foundation with many British universities. Last year, Southeast University, as the leading university in China, established the Sino-British University Engineering Education and Research Consortium and incorporated the Sino-British mechanism for cultural and educational exchanges. On the basis of the current six British universities, Cambridge University, Liverpool University and Leeds University have also signed up to join the consortium, which has become an important platform for exchanges and cooperation among Chinese and British universities. President Zhang indicated that Southeast University expected to be included in the Education Partnership Program and achieve strong alliance and open cooperation by virtue of the Sino-British University Engineering Education and Research Consortium as a platform to jointly promote the innovation and development of global engineering education, the cultivation of high-end engineering talents and global industrial restructuring.

Chairman Mike Carr highly recognized and actively fed back to President Zhang's suggestions. He expected that both parties could fully utilize the platform of the Sino-British University Engineering Education and Research Consortium to cooperate in a practical manner.

After the talks, the delegation arrived at the Wireless Valley to visit the State Key Laboratory for Mobile Communications of Southeast University and carried out cordial exchanges with relevant teacher representatives of the laboratory.
