Southeast University (SEU) held a special awarding ceremony in honor of Prof. Juergen Kurth from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU Berlin) becomingSEU's guest professor on the afternoon of March 5th. Vice President Pu Yuepu addressed the ceremony, and granted Prof. Juergen Kurth the appointment certificate and the university badge. The ceremony was presided over by Prof. Liu Jijun, Dean of Department of Mathematics. Many faculty members and students from related offices and departments attended the ceremony. Afterwards, Prof. Juergen Kurths delivered a wonderful speech with the title of “Network of Networks”
Prof. Kurths works at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and chairs Interdisciplinary Studies under Potsdam Institute for the Study of Atmosphere. Thanks to his remarkable contribution in the fields of non-linear systems, complex networks, temporal series and their application, etc., Prof. Kurths was selected as APS Fellow,Fellow of Fraunhofer Society and member of the Academia Europaea. Prof. Kurths and Prof. Cao Jinde's research group of Southeast University keep close cooperation in terms of academic research, faculty exchange and project application. His participation in our university is expected to promote the exchange and cooperation between Southeast University and Humboldt University, broaden the research perspective of SEU's relevant faculties and students, as well as accelerate the development of SEU's disciplines of Complex Network and Applied Mathematics.
