SEU Conferred Honorary Professor to Sir John B. Pendry
 
In the morning of October 11th, a grand ceremony was held at Southeast University (SEU) to confer honorary professor to Sir John B. Pendry, a Chair in Theoretical Solid State Physics at Imperial College, UK.
 
The ceremony was hosted by Prof. Cui Tiejun, Vice-Dean of School of information science and engineering. SEU’s Vice-President Pu Yuepu gave a speech, extending warm welcome to Sir John Pendry’s visit and hearty congratulations on his conferment.
 

Professor John Pendry is a well-known scholar on condensed matter theory, and an acknowledged pioneer in the field of Metamaterials and Transformation Optics. His research has led to the development of the first working prototype of ‘invisibility cloak’. For his services to science, he was knighted in the Queen's Birthday honors list in 2004. In 2012, he was elected as a member of the one of the USA's most prestigious societies, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
